Life Begun in Praise

Senior Special Apostle Prophet Dr. David Olusegun Emilolorun was a man whose life both began and ended in praise. He opened every account of himself with the same declaration:

“Glory be to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace; His goodwill towards all mankind.” — Luke 2:14

This expression of thanksgiving was the thread that ran through every aspect of his life. Before mentioning his family, his ministry, or his accomplishments, he first gave glory to God. Thanksgiving was not simply something he expressed — it was the foundation upon which he lived.

For more than five decades, he faithfully served God with humility, integrity, and unwavering devotion. As a husband, father, grandfather, prophet, mentor, and church leader, he touched countless lives through his ministry, both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Though widely respected for his prophetic gift, he was remembered just as much for his compassion, wisdom, and steadfast faith.

He often reminded those he mentored:

“There is a difference between a prophet called by God and a prophet who called himself.”

His life was a testimony to that conviction. He answered God’s call, remained faithful to it, and devoted his life to serving Christ and His Church. The pages that follow tell the story of a man whose life truly began and ended in praise.

Early Life and Heritage

Senior Special Apostle Prophet Dr. David Olusegun Emilolorun was born on 26 December 1947 in Erin-Ile, Kwara State, Nigeria, into the respected Ile Atere Compound — a family renowned for its heritage of faith, leadership, and service.

He was the son of Prophet Michael Oyawole Emilolorun, a highly respected prophet and church leader, and Mrs. Emily Ade Adenihun, a successful trader and skilled tailor. From an early age, he was raised in a home where faith, hard work, discipline, and service to God were central to daily life. The godly example of his parents laid a strong spiritual foundation that would shape his character and calling.

His family traced its ancestry to the royal lineage of the ancient Ọyọ Kingdom and proudly preserved its rich heritage through traditional praise names passed down from generation to generation. On his paternal side, his great-grandfather, Ogunbayowa, was remembered as a courageous warrior whose legacy remained an important part of the family’s history. On his maternal side, his grandfather, Gabriel Titilayo, settled in Erin-Ile from Ile-Ife and, through faith, diligence, and enterprise, became a successful merchant and a respected member of the town’s ruling family.

Growing up within this rich heritage of faith, leadership, and industry, young David learned to trust God wholeheartedly. Those early years prepared him for a lifetime of service, laying the foundation for the man, husband, father, prophet, and leader he would later become.

Military Service, Marriage and Family

Before entering full-time ministry, Prophet David Olusegun Emilolorun served honourably in the Nigerian Army. His military career took him to various parts of the country, including Northern Nigeria, where God began preparing him for the next chapter of his life.

While serving around Kaduna, he received a remarkable vision in which he saw himself carrying two baskets that suddenly fell. As he sought the Lord for understanding, he believed God revealed that he would travel south to recover what had been lost, and that there he would meet the woman He had chosen to be his wife. Confident that God’s promises never fail, he held firmly to that revelation.

His future wife had likewise committed the matter of marriage entirely to God. Raised between Ibadan and Ilawo, she trusted the Lord to direct her steps. When they eventually met, both recognised God’s hand upon their meeting. Reflecting on their journey together, he would simply say, “It was God’s wisdom.”

Following his transfer to Lagos on 5 December 1969, he made the city his permanent home. On 5 January 1972, he married the love of his life, beginning a lifelong partnership built on faith, prayer, love, and mutual support. Their first child was born later that same year, and over the years God blessed them with children and grandchildren who became one of his greatest earthly joys.

Although his ministry touched countless lives, his family always remained central to his heart. He believed that a servant of God must first be faithful at home before leading God’s people, and he sought to live by that principle throughout his life. As a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, he left behind a family that continues to cherish his example of faith, humility, and unwavering trust in God.

The Divine Call and the Building of a Ministry

Although the prophetic gift was evident in his life from an early age, Prophet David Olusegun Emilolorun never sought the prophetic office. He held the calling in the highest regard and believed it should only be embraced by those whom God had genuinely called. He often said,

“There is a difference between a prophet called by God and a prophet who called himself.”

His late father, Prophet Michael Oyawole Emilolorun, had recognised and affirmed God’s calling upon his life before his passing. Following his father’s death, and after much prayer and reflection, Prophet David yielded fully to God’s call and was ordained into the prophetic ministry in 1974.

Throughout the years, Prophet David became widely respected for his spiritual discernment, sound biblical teaching, and unwavering commitment to prayer. He was one of the principal founding members of CSCM Ogo-Seraph, where he served faithfully from its inception. His dedication and exemplary leadership led to his appointment as Leader-in-Charge in 2010, a role he carried with humility and distinction until his departure into glory.

His ministry was marked by obedience to God’s direction. Following a divine revelation, he established the Faith Clinic at Sango Ota on 2 July 2000, creating a place where countless people found healing, deliverance, restoration, and renewed hope through prayer.

He also founded several enduring spiritual initiatives, including Osan Meta, Oru Meta — a three-day and three-night annual prayer retreat held at the close of each year. The gathering became a time of revival, miracles, and spiritual renewal, while also providing an opportunity for God’s people to seek His direction for the coming year through prayer and prophetic revelation.

Recognising the importance of prayer and raising future generations of ministers, he was also one of the founders of Mount Sinai Prayer Mountain in Sango Ota. The mountain became a place of monthly prayer vigils, spiritual support, and prophetic ministry, while also serving as a training ground for those called into the prophetic office.

His ministry eventually extended beyond Nigeria into the United Kingdom, where he continued to preach the Gospel, strengthen churches, mentor ministers, and proclaim Christ with the same humility, conviction, and passion that defined his life. Through evangelistic outreaches, radio ministry, media appearances, and international missions, he faithfully carried the message of Christ to audiences far beyond the walls of the church.

A Lasting Legacy

Behind the titles and responsibilities was a man of deep faith, quiet humility, and unwavering devotion to God. To his family, he was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. To the Church, he was a spiritual father, mentor, counsellor, and friend whose wisdom, prayers, and encouragement shaped countless lives.

Throughout his ministry, Prophet David remained committed to the principles that guided his own life. He taught that a servant of God must be genuinely called, firmly grounded in Scripture, and faithful first within the home before leading God’s people. His life reflected those convictions, and his family became a living testimony to the values he faithfully preached.

His influence extended far beyond the pulpit. Through CSCM Ogo-Seraph, the Faith Clinic, Osan Meta Oru Meta, Mount Sinai Prayer Mountain, and the many ministers he mentored, he established a legacy of prayer, discipleship, and faithful service that continues to impact lives today.

Looking back on his life’s journey, his testimony remained beautifully simple:

“For me, it is only one God; I believe in the God of Christ.”

His greatest desire was never earthly recognition, but to remain faithful to the calling God had entrusted to him. By God’s grace, he fulfilled that calling with distinction.

Senior Special Apostle Prophet Dr. David Olusegun Emilolorun leaves behind his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and an extended spiritual family who will continue to cherish his memory. More importantly, he leaves a lasting legacy of unwavering faith, humble service, and complete dependence upon God.

He often concluded his prayers with words of blessing, and it is fitting that we remember him with those same words:

“Your work will be rewarded; you will not labour in vain, and you will enjoy the work of your hands.”

Though he has entered into his eternal rest, the seeds he faithfully planted continue to bear fruit. His life remains an enduring testimony that a life surrendered to God is never lived in vain.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
